ByI am recently single and have very little time to do the social scene. I am looking for a free or relatively low costing online dating site to meet people in my area. Any suggestions?

Check out http://www.FindOneTrue.com . It is a new free site, but is growing very rapidly and they will never ask for a credit card. It also has less ads than most of the other free sites.

If your into NSA (No Strings Attached) dating or swinger dating, theres a site called peachmate thats totally free. You never have to pay for it ever. its like myspace for adults.
